Hey, what up Raipuriyas? How was your weekend? Don’t know about yours but mine was a blast. I, being a football fanatic, found myself surrounded by fifty more crazy football fans of Raipur at The Florence hotel where the screening of the UEFA Champions League finals took place which was organised by our own booming media firm, The Broken Scooter, Chhattisgarh in association with Stardust FC and venue partner Florence Hotel. What an experience it was! The rushing adrenaline, the crowd screaming at the top of their voices, the food, the ambiance…the list is never-ending. It was too close to teleporting to Cardiff.
The night started off with all the football enthusiasts gathering up in their colors at the venue. The proceedings kicked off with some fun games where the crowd collectively and individually participated and won some hampers. And of course, the real deal of the night – the UEFA finals, which was everything it promised to be. Real Madrid fans had a gala evening watching Los Blancos winning the DUODECIMA in a great fashion. The Juves were sent home disappointed with the score line. The match produced many unforgettable moments. Real displayed the best of tactics with each player pressing on the tight defense of Juventus, which paved way not for one or two but four goals for the whites. Ronaldo tapped in his first goal with a cheeky placement to the left bottom corner away from the steady hands of Buffon. Mario Manduzikic equalized back with a beautiful over head volley which may be arguably the best ever scored final goal in the competition’s history. But they couldn’t follow up to the Spanish giants as Casemiro scored a screamer few minutes past the half time mark. The lead was extended shortly after Ronaldo tapped in another on a Luka Modric’s sublime cross. To add the cherry on the cake, the young gun Asensio completed the haul in the injury time. It was a devastating moment for Juventus but Madrid fans had the euphoria of their lifetime. Everybody at Cardiff, Florence and the world bowed down to the new European champions and the chants of the champions were no where close to be stopped.
Let me take a moment to tell you something. A beautiful game like this brings people together; binds them in a bond of unity. The synergy between people strengthens. And that’s what the society needs. I always root for collective viewing and organising social platforms where people can interact with each other. It’s always fun to be around people who share common interests.
So, my dear Raipuriyas, I hope you look for such opportunities in the future. Stay connected to Stardust FC for more football frenzies and TBS for everything that is blooming in our city and around us.
