Creativity is needed in order to break free from the temporary structures that have been setup by a particular sequence of experience and produce the most extraordinary results in human culture. With this belief, the students of IIM Raipur are organizing Equinox 7.0 in association with IDBI Bank; a fest which promises to be a Mega conclave of business acumen and cultural heritage to be held from 27th – 29th January 2017.
The team behind the event revealed a glimpse of the event and its scale to local folks at Magneto mall and Ambuja mall. On the warm Sunday afternoon of 22nd January, the students of IIM Raipur performed flash mob at Magneto and Ambuja Mall and danced to the tunes of hit Bollywood numbers. The shoppers were taken by surprise when the students suddenly broke into a dance. This flash mob was intended for the promotion of IIM Raipur’s Equinox 7.0, eastern India’s premier B-school event.
The organizing team and a few other students from the institute also promoted the event on a huge scale by conducting pre-event shows in renowned institutes like Hidayatullah National Law University, National Institute of Technology Raipur, All India Insitute of Medical Sciences Raipur, IIIT Raipur and Shri Shankaracharya Institute of Professional Management and Technology where the students of these colleges participated in numerous activities like dancing, singing, drama, band performances etc., showcasing their talents. The participants were awarded with exciting prizes and goodies in the form of Equinox T-shirts offered by Simba Aqua, vouchers from different sponsors like KFC, VLCC, Ola Cabs, Dominos, Pizza Hut and many more. Few students also displayed their brawn by participating in arm wrestling competitions.
Christened in 2011, Equinox, today, stands as one of the biggest business cum cultural fest to be reckoned in Eastern India within a short span of 5 years. The journey started from being a student driven initiative to celebrate talent, knowledge and culture in 2011. By 2015, Equinox became the largest business cum cultural fest of the region witnessing a total of around 50,000 hits on the website and a footfall of over 8000 over 3 days. Today it is a national extravaganza of gargantuan proportions. It has evolved and diversified to become an epitome of unparalleled professionalism as well as raw fervour. Keeping up with the tradition, Equinox 7.0, sponsored by IDBI and co-sponsored by CGTB, plans to grow bigger in terms of platform it provides for budding leaders and larger in terms of the audience it is able reach. The whole gamut of events will be conducted on 27th, 28th and 29th of January in one of the fastest growing cities of India, Raipur.
The business events include a series of simulation games, live case studies and quizzes that will test the fundamental principles from the various spheres of management. Some of the events that will be featured as a part of this year’s edition of Equinox are ‘Udyam’- the B-Plan event, ‘Seeker’- an online treasure hunt, ‘Grey Carnage’ – the HR based case study competition, ‘Case Files’- dwells into live cases on problems faced by the company, ‘I am Legend’- an event where participants will have to make crucial decisions under stress, ‘Tarkash’- a debate competition. Other events include- ‘Chanakya’ – a simulation game to test the strategic minds of the participants; and Mudit Vriddhi – a game to promote the Chhattisgarhi handicraft. Besides business events, Equinox will also showcase several cultural events such as, ‘Nukkad’ – a street play, ‘Verve’- the fashion show, ‘Armageddon’- a rock concert ,‘Footwork’-the dance event, “Mr & Ms University’ among many others, where the students will get an opportunity to display their talents.
The three day cultural fest would also be hosting Coke Studio on the 28th of January and a DJ night on the 29th featuring DJ Tejas with his versatile repertoire of music to send the partying students to a tizzy. In the concert of Coke Studio, the lead performers will be from the famous rock band, Lagori. It is a folk / fusion rock band that originated in Bangalore. The band consist a group of musicians with varied musical influences, who have won the hearts of their fans through their foot tapping, soul stirring music. They will be performing on popular tracks such as “Boom Shankar”, “30-60-90”, “Mast Kalandar”, etc. These tracks are extremely popular amongst the youngsters these days.
This year the event is being organized on an unprecedented scale with a bigger budget and more participation than ever before. The various clubs of the college are gearing up to create the most challenging of competitions which will rack the brains of the best minds of the country on one hand and will provide unbridled fun to the participants on the other. One can also tune into MY FM, the radio partners of Equinox 7.0 .
