Picture early September, Telibanda lakeside, couple it up with delicious food and a bunch of comedians making us laugh!! What else do we need to treat ourselves on weekends?
I usually celebrate my weekends wandering with my friends nearby Telibanda lakeside. You get varieties of food, great options to sit and chill out with your friends and most importantly easily reachable. And yes! The energy of the place is just contagious.
This 17th Sept (saturday evening) like every other weekends, me and my friends went to Telibanda lakeside, for some refreshments (basically for good food and folks to hang around). But this time my Saturday evening was even more exciting and full of laughter. And the people behind my giggles were a bunch of young comedians, who were all set to make us laugh at It’s Me Cafe.
This was first ever open mic stand up comedy happening in Raipur, organised by a young team called Knife Edge Comedy (KEC). An open mic is a show where new comedians get stage time to perform and mature comedians try out their new material. KEC is basically a team of young comedians , who believe they have an edge over comedy .It is the only comedy collective from Chhattisgarh. They have successfully organized many open mics and stand up comedy shows in Bhilai. Being the first of its kind, the young bunch excelled in making Raipurians laugh. Jokes cracked were mostly youth centric, revolving around the day to day activities of the people here in Raipur. Audience could very well relate themselves with the situations given.
Himanshu Uikey, the lead comedian and other comedians won audience’s heart with their presence of mind and comic timing. People could not stop chuckling on sarcasm and the odds. One of Himanshu Uikey’s one liner was:
It’s not hard to make a beautiful girl fall in love with you
It becomes harder when the girl is beautiful and she knows that she is beautiful!
It’s Me Cafe, the miniature outlet of The Music Cafe has always been the talk of the town for it’s immensely beautiful location, facing the Telibandha Lake. It was a houseful show with an audience of around 60 people. The Cafe was totally packed, People didn’t even hesitate to sit on the stairs. The Raipur audience were totally loving this new fusion of comedy and delicious food and it looks like this fusion of food and comedy is here to stay for good!
Like I said, it was a deliciously funny evening with white sauce pasta added with a dash of laughter which was the perfect recipe for an awesome evening.
